Congratulations! The 20th of June will be a histroic day for the sunday movement in Europe. Now we are able to have a strong voice to declare an reach our common aims on European level. Unfortunately I cannot take part in the foundation meeting, but a new way to a Social Europe is going on.

The European Sunday Alliance is a network of national Sunday Alliances, trade unions, civil society organizations and religious communities committed to raise awareness of the unique value of synchronised free time for our European societies.

Sunday and, more general, decent working hours, are the focus of our campaigns. In our Founding Statement, we draw attention to aspects of life/work-balance and social cohesion that depend on a vast majority of people to have their lawful free time at the same time.

GERMANY: No Sunday shopping at Munich jubilee celebrations

A judgement by the Bavarian Administrative Court declared that shops in the central area of Munich may not open on Sunday during the festival celebrating the foundation of the city.

 

 

FRANCE: French win 'right to disconnect' from out-of-hours work emails

In France, employees will be guaranteed a right to disconnect and freedom from checking emails outside normal working hours.

 

 

GERMANY: Münster residents vote down Sunday shopping

In Münster, Westphalia, Germany, 300 000 residents voted against further opening of shops on specific Sundays of the year.
